We’re pumped to announce the official launch of http://TypeMatrix.com. We approached this project differently than our usual process by steadily building out the site in phases. Since February, we’ve gradually introduced the new “look and feel” of the TypeMatrix brand to their customers.
Dividing up the site and phasing out the new release of each section made it a real collaborative process for May, Typematrix, and it’s loyal community. Users would continually post feedback about their wants, needs, and reactions to recent deployments. We want to thank everybody for the kind words and feedback throughout the process of rebranding and overhauling the online user experience of TypeMatrix.
“We knew the time had come to undergo an online makeover so that our web presence better reflected our innovative products,” said Henry Webber, Founder and CEO of TypeMatrix. “We thought it would be a daunting process, however May made it a breeze by rolling out the new website in phases so we didn’t have to completely scrap the old site in one fell swoop.”
TypeMatrix wants the site to serve as a community hub for their users to connect and interact with each other – to share advice and resources for those struggling with Repetitive Strain Injury or Carpal Tunnel. Make sure you check out the new areas of the site, such as the Why 2030 that gives an overview of the history of the keyboard, as well as the streamlined and easy to navigate Store.
And the site continues to expand. Check back often as they’ll be frequently updating their blog and unveiling a community forum in the next couple weeks. Congratulations on your new website, Typematrix!

We are pleased to announce the launch of the completely redesigned Santa Barbara Adventure Company website. SBAC owners Suzanne & Michael Cohen are long time friends of May’s Founder, Garth Humbert and it was great to be working with them again.
Fresh out of college (UCSB), Suzanne and Garth launched Print Lab Design Bureau in 1998. When Suzanne married Michael and got involved in SBAC’s daily operations, she hired Garth to launch the company’s original website. Needless to say, that was awhile ago, and SBAC approached May last fall to help revamp their online presence – complete with full force social media integration, beautiful design, and full control Wordpress content management.
Here’s some before & after screenshots to show the evolution.

We look forward to many more years of working together and can not wait to celebrate our one year anniversary of May this summer with a team building adventure outing courtesy of SBAC! It’s gonna be epic!

We’re really proud to unveil the brand new ThisWeekIn website – quite possibly our most complex WordPress-powered experience yet. We’re launching just in time for the highly anticipated live TWiST event in SXSW on Saturday March 13th in Austin, TX.
ThisWeekIn, Inc. offers a network of video podcasts covering a wide variety of topics from tech to entertainment to social media. Their network of shows includes — ThisWeekIn: Startups; ThisWeekIn: YouTube; ThisWeekIn: Books; ThisWeekIn: Cloud Computing; ThisWeekIn: Twitter; ThisWeekIn: Android; and Kevin Pollak’s Chat Show. They feature guest experts, founders, movie stars, comedians, technologists and CEO’s — all keeping you up to speed on what’s happening this week with a fast and funny style.
What made this site so technically challenging was that it was a combination of seven unique websites (soon to be eight) needing to be fully integrated under one easy to manage CMS. The new site really simplifies and consolidates the ThisWeekIn brand, giving fans quick and easy access to news, updates, and episodes on all 7 shows.
After seeing the final result, Jason Calacanis, Co-Founder of ThisWeekIn, Inc, simply stated, “Wow!”
Huge props to the May team for all the hard work and especially to our jedi code master Matt Simo, who continues to amaze and inspire us with his WordPress finesse, while pushing the envelope with the platform’s capabilities.

Last week we journeyed outside on our first company field trip and traveled to San Diego to scope out this quarter’s recent grads from the Art Institute of California – San Diego (the alma mater of our very own Amanda Ashcraft). The event took place at the Wonderhaus, a spacious, brick warehouse space in downtown SD.
It was inspiring to observe the fresh talent of hungry artists straight out of school. Many of their final thesis projects were the culmination of 9+ months of sweat, blood, and probably a few tears. Their dedication and creative passion was super apparent, and we wish them all the best of luck with venturing out into the ‘real world’ design community.
A few noteworthy designers, illustrators, and web developers we made friends with include
Jed Bridges // Sereli Rodriguez // Eric Gravlin
Be sure to check out their impressive online portfolios, follow them on Twitter, and if you get overwhelmed with work - toss some their way!
Going to new places–especially larger, urban destinations, is a wonderful departure from my day-to-day suburban experience. I recently spent five days in San Francisco with my lovely wife. We flew in and spent our days walking the streets, riding public transit, and admiring the architecture.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of a trip like this, to a place like this, is the drastic contrast to my current living situation. The city. The sights. The people. The restaurants. The buildings. The lifestyle. The history. Everywhere I looked was a sight to behold–to soak in. The rich history of a city like San Francisco provides great visual nuggets every step of the day. From the quirky details of old buildings, to beautiful signage, to people from all walks of life–the city is a great place to recharge and refill your creative banks.
Below is a random (limited) collection of images that caught my eye as we trudged up and down the hills of Frisco.

What I’m saying here is nothing new–we all know that taking time away from your computer, your office, and our day-to-day environment–and spending time in new places is a good thing. What I am saying is more of a reminder and encouragement to get away (sooner rather than later). The world is big and wonderful and full of ideas–take advantage of it.
